That Black and Blue Hat

So every now and then I will be talking about this brilliant man named Eric Thomas, aka ETthehiphopPreache, mostly because this man helped me find ways to motivate myself. But this post is not about motivation it is about representing who you are and where you are from. Now ET is from Detroit and he always gets asked why you got that black and red hat on, and he says because thats where I'm from.

People always ask me why do I like the Royals or chiefs. I always joke around and say that someones got to support them, but that's not always it. I wear my royals hat because that's where I'm from and where most of my memories are. That black and blue hat reminds me of all the people I have met the last two years, it reminds me of a elaborate downtown where graffiti covers most buildings. That is where I fell in love with music and also lose a relationship at a concert too. Just this one hat holds reminders of where I grew up and who I am. Kansas City is not only the home of the royals, it's a home where my dreams started. Even though I may not like my hometown, I can't hid the fact that I am from there, I may not like the town and it might not like me, the town and the struggles I've had gives me the drive to be the first name to come from it. So even if you see a hat of a terrible sports team, it might mean something much more to that person wearing it.

Skating with a purpose

So I happened to go ice skating last Sunday and my friend was afraid to do something different like go faster because she was afraid to fall. Well first I'd like to say that I love to skate and the feeling while I skate is indescribable, and I was trying to get my friends to do something that they usually don't do, and one kept saying no, and I said, "If you don't push yourself or test the boarders then whats the point of life."
She said what, then I realized I said that way to loud, but then now i realize that if you're not afraid to fall then how do you know what it feels like to pick yourself up, and also on the way up you can see who is there to help you back up.

When you look at the little things in life, like skating, you can't always see the worst in it, you should see the outcome when you succeed at it. Even if you have fallen a couple of times, you now know what goes wrong and you can find ways to fix it even if it makes you fall again. Thomas Edison said, "I haven't failed, I have found 1000 ways to make something not work." Even if you find those thousand ways to fail it only takes one time to succeed and the hardest part is how do you keep that success without losing feelings and thoughts that got you to the place in the first place.

You might think you are amazing at baseball because you have the talent but as soon as you get stuck in the limelight and makes you lose your goal, then all  of that hard work has gone to waste. There will always be someone better than you, and if you don't think so, then you are wrong. What makes the greats the legends is that they always find ways to beat the best and when that is over they have to beat who they were yesterday to be legendary. Don't let the success get to your head, always have the sight of getting better than who you were yesterday.

Creating the Better You

I have written many blogs on my other channels and they haven't really been the greatest reads, but it has been a new year and things have changed for the better. Mostly because I strived to be a better me. So in this long pursuit of happiness if found ways to motivate myself.

My first encounter of motivation was just motivational hockey videos an mostly about the lock out and it made me wonder if these athletes wanted to play. and the reason why i thought that was because even though there was a lock out, i didn't hear any comments coming from players only fans.

Then i broadened my search to just motivation videos an one video hit me the hardest. How Bad DO You Want It? it started off with a young man asking a successful man what does it take to be successful. "The old man said meet me at the beach, when he got there the boy said, 'man this guys crazy' the old man said follow me went into the ocean and said, 'how bad do you want it' 'real bad' so the old man held the boys head under water till he was about to pass out then brought him up."
"You have to want it as bad as you want to breathe."-Eric Thomas was the speaker.

Now if you just skimmed over that reread it. because at the end it said you have to want it as bad as you breathe and as soon as I heard that my life changed, because i have always wanted to create something big and as soon as i heard that something clicked in my head that turned that unwilling thing to talk to people and instead of thinking of things that i did wrong to things i have learned to be greater than the myself in the past.I am not the most talkative person but when i see something i need to get better at something nothing will get in my way.

So if you ever need something to read on how to get better, I hope this is the blog for you or people that need something that says they can do anything.
